Writing Good Newsletters and emails

There is a lot to be said about creating great content for your site, and this also extends to the newsletters and emails that your business sends out.

This article is a collection of ideas and methods that I have gathered over time to make this task easier.

Keep Your Readers (Customers) Coming Back

Once you have a solid list of subscribers, you have to write compelling content that keeps your customers coming back.

When you develop a reputation for stellar content, your customers will always look forward to hearing from you. This means higher open rates, higher click rates, and more conversions.

This may seem obvious. But how do you consistently offer good content?

  • Keep it simple and focused. Ask yourself, "Why would someone read this?" Once you have an answer, keep that in mind throughout the entire writing process.

  • Put some of your company's identity into the words. If you're not sure how to do this, start by writing your message as if you were talking to a friend in the room. You can't go wrong with a conversational tone.

  • Pay attention to every part of your email, not just the body. This means headers, subjects, and sender information. In fact, the sender address is often the most important factor in whether or not someone opens an email.
